NABIP Tennessee is the state chapter of the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals. It runs continuing education and networking events for benefits professionals across Tennessee. Ahead of the 2026 Fall and Winter season, a member searching for the chapter online landed on the national association site.
The situation
The chapter had a site, but it had gone stale and there was no route from it to an event registration. With the first Fall session set for September 29, the board was weighing whether to take the site down rather than leave it up as it stood. Registration was running through email and phone calls, which left no list to work from and no headcount until the week of the event.
What we built
A hand-coded site on WordPress, moved off the old platform, with the chapter brand and colors kept exactly as they were. Events live in one place and maintain themselves. Past events drop off the list, the hero always shows whichever one is next, and every upcoming event appears in a single registration form with a checkbox beside it.
Each submission emails the chapter, adds a row to a Google Sheet with one column per event so headcounts are a filter away, and saves in WordPress where the board can sort and export. If the sheet cannot be reached, the signup is still recorded and emailed, then retried automatically. A honeypot field and a minimum fill time keep the spam out.
What changed
The chapter can take registrations again. The Fall and Winter calendar is live and linkable, which matters because the season was already being promoted on LinkedIn with nowhere for an interested member to go.
What is next
We keep the calendar current as dates and locations firm up. Registration and attendance numbers get published here once the Fall season has run.
